“The best thing my lips have ever done is win me a GRAMMY,” Doja Cat unapologetically dives right in. Her lips have clearly done a lot for her, from performing some of the decade’s hottest (and award-winning) hits to launching hundreds of beauty trends inspired by her ever-evolving look. So it may not come as a shock that the multifaceted artist frequently does her own makeup, too. What can’t she do? The multitalented pop star turned M·A·C Global Brand Ambassador dishes on her hottest makeup moments, favourite going-out looks and spiritual healing rituals.
SINGER. SONGWRITER. PRODUCER. MAKEUP ARTIST.
Her look today is simple but bold – a smooth, matte complexion accented with a striking red lip – but she reminisces about the days of getting all glammed up to go out in the early 2010s. “So many dark smoky eyes, glittery inner corners and frosted brow bones. I remember the obsession we had with frosted lips and foundation being three layers deep,” she says. “It was our alter egos we let shine at the time.” Hers still do.
“Being single makes me feel dangerous at the moment,” she says, puffing on a cigar-replica of her signature Lady Danger lipstick. “At some point you’re just like I gotta stay home – I can’t go out anymore – this is getting too messy,” she laughs after being asked how the name of her favourite shade relates to her real life. But that hasn’t stopped her from finding new ways to push the envelope – and Paint the Town Red.
Whether she’s lighting up the stage or setting the internet on fire for eating a M·A·C Lipstick on the red carpet of music’s biggest night, Doja Cat continues to dial up the heat with a little help from her “spiritual healer” – also known as – her lipstick.
“M·A·Cximal is all about the power of self-expression,” she says. “Be anything, anyone, anywhere, anytime.” With sixty-something shades to choose from, there are endless ways to swipe on a whole new personality.
"IF I CAN’T EXPRESS MYSELF
WITH WORDS, I EXPRESS
MYSELF WITH MAKEUP.
THAT’S SPIRITUAL HEALING
TO ME, PERSONALLY."

HOW TO GET DOJA CAT'S SMOKING HOT LOOK
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Where there’s fire, there’s Lady Danger – a best-selling fiery red shade of M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick and Doja Cat signature.
- Start with a smooth base using Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 in NC20 for a soft-matte finish.
- Get fuller-looking brows with Pro Brow Definer 1MM-Tip Brow Pencil in Onyx. Draw high-definition, hair-like strokes then blend it out for a natural.
- Add some warm colour with Eye Shadow in Tete-A-Tint. Apply this peachy shadow on the lids then blend with a brush for a hit of rich pigment that won’t crease.
- Dial up the volume on your lashes with M·A·Cstack Elevated Mascara in Black Stack. Swipe on this clump-proof formula for a fanned-out, lifted lash look – add more layers for an extra dramatic effect.
- For a natural flush, blend some Powder Blush in Melba onto your cheeks. This buildable formula provides powerful pigment with a natural-looking finish.
- Sharpen the edges of lips with Lip Pencil in Cherry before topping off the look with Doja Cat’s signature shade of M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Lady Danger.
“M·A·CXIMAL IS ALL ABOUT THE POWER OF SELF-EXPRESSION.
BE ANYTHING, ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.”
— DOJA CAT
CRAVING CAVIAR?
One of Doja Cat’s stage-makeup faves? M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Caviar. “First of all, I love caviar and I love black,” she says. “When I’m on stage, I love seeing how the bold black lip allows the camera to capture my emotion from afar.” Her tip: “I love smoothing a metallic shadow atop the caviar lip – Caviar makes a GREAT base for a chrome lip!”
